New-York based contemporary artist Elizabeth Peyton is known for small scale oil paintings featuring idealised versions of her friends, boyfriends and celebrities.
I find the sketchy-ness (for lack of a better word) in her paintings quite enticing, the character of her subjects instantly jump out through her use of dramatic colour, angles and visible, dynamic brush strokes.

These are my favourites of Peyton's work and I chose these picture either because I specifically liked the colour pallet or composition of the figures. I think colour is very important in these paintings and Peyton relies on it to imbue her intended atmosphere into the piece.
